A 46-year-old woman was killed on 23 April 2026 in her home in Foggia, in Apulia. Her husband, a 48-year-old security guard, is in custody accused of femicide. The victim had been active in campaigning against gender-based violence. Three months after her death her children wrote an open letter to the Italian prime minister saying they felt abandoned by the state, having applied for the statutory compensation available to the families of femicide victims and received no reply.
