A 37-year-old man died on 4 August 2026 after being found with visible signs of violence at the foot of Youth Hill (Mladezhki halm) in Plovdiv. The emergency call was made to 112 at around 17:20 that day, and he died several hours later in hospital. The Plovdiv District Prosecutor's Office is investigating the death as an intentional homicide, and forensic specialists are carrying out active work to establish the facts. On 6 August 2026 it was reported that five juveniles — three girls and two boys — had been charged with intentional murder committed in a particularly torturous manner, with special cruelty, and on hooliganism and sexual motives. According to police, the victim had been contacted online by a 17-year-old girl who told him she was 15 and arranged a meeting; when he arrived at Youth Hill he was met instead by a group of around ten young people. A post-mortem examination found lacerations to the lungs and kidneys and a traumatic brain injury.
