A man was shot dead at about 7.30pm on the evening of Friday 28 August 2026 in Décines-Charpieu, a commune in the eastern suburbs of Lyon. He died at the scene. A second man was shot in the abdomen and taken to hospital in a serious condition. The Rhône prefecture announced the shooting and said the circumstances and motives were not yet clearly established. The prefect of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region immediately sent CRS reinforcements to secure the neighbourhood, a working-class quarter of the commune. The investigation was entrusted to the judicial police. No arrest had been reported at the time of the cited coverage.
