A 40-year-old man was shot dead on the evening of Friday 2 October 2026 at the junction of Braybrook Street and Erconwald Street in East Acton, west London. Police were called at 19:47 after members of the public heard multiple shots. Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service, who treated the victim at the scene, but he was pronounced dead there. A post-mortem examination established that he died of a gunshot wound to the chest. He was from West London, and his family are being supported by specialist officers. A large number of people had gathered in the area for a memorial service at the time of the shooting. The Metropolitan Police believe more than 50 people were present and have appealed for anyone who was near Erconwald Street, Braybrook Street or Wormwood Scrubs playground between 18:00 and 20:00 to come forward, along with anyone holding photographs or video, dashcam, doorbell or mobile phone footage. The detective chief inspector leading the investigation described the killing as a senseless act of violence. No arrests have been made. Detectives have pursued several lines of enquiry, including extensive CCTV trawls, witness enquiries and detailed forensic examination of the scene, and those enquiries continue as officers work to establish the events leading up to the shooting and identify those responsible.
