Two police officers were seriously injured during a stop in Rotterdam-West on the evening of Tuesday 4 August 2026, after officers responded to a report of a disturbance. Both were taken to hospital and have since returned home; the severity of their injuries was not disclosed. Police said the man had "behoorlijk toegetakeld" — badly beaten up — the two officers. A 49-year-old Rotterdam resident was arrested on suspicion of attempted manslaughter and aggravated assault.
