A 24-year-old delivery rider was stabbed in the neck in the 9th arrondissement of Paris on the afternoon of 25 August 2026, following a road altercation. According to witnesses and prosecutors, a van collided with the rider's fat bike — a fast electric bicycle — in a narrow street. A dispute broke out with the driver, who tried to leave; the cyclist punched him through the vehicle window and kicked the car door. As the driver pulled away and the cyclist ran after the vehicle, the driver stabbed him in the throat. A first-aider and passers-by compressed the wound at the scene while the rider bled heavily, and emergency services initially feared the carotid artery had been severed. The wound proved shallow and the victim left hospital about four hours later. The driver, a 29-year-old man, was arrested later the same day. The Paris public prosecutor's office opened an investigation for attempted murder.
