A 19-year-old man was left in a serious condition in Turin on the afternoon of 26 August 2026 after being struck by a car in lungo Po Antonelli, in the Vanchiglietta district near the city centre. According to the reporting, two young men on an electric scooter snatched a gold necklace from a 39-year-old Turin resident. Rather than calling the emergency services, he got into his car, chased them and rammed them at speed, sending them off the road. An eyewitness quoted by another newspaper said the driver had acted deliberately; that account is a witness statement and not a judicial finding. One of the two riders, aged 19, was left unconscious at the scene after the collision and was taken to the CTO hospital, where he was intubated and remained in a serious condition. The second rider, aged 17, managed to get up and get away after being beaten by the driver. The driver, aged 39 and with no prior record, was placed in police detention on suspicion of attempted homicide. The two riders were reported to face arrest for robbery.
