At about 06:00 on Friday 4 September 2026 a 31-year-old man was seriously wounded in the home he shared with his partner in the municipality of Moita, in the district of Setúbal. According to the Polícia Judiciária the attacker, motivated by jealousy, used a large kitchen knife and struck him several times, causing injuries that placed his life in danger. He required two blood transfusions to replace the blood he had lost. The suspect, his 24-year-old partner, was arrested outside the act on suspicion of aggravated attempted homicide. Brought before a judge for a first questioning as a formal suspect, he was remanded in custody. The investigation is being directed by the domestic-violence section of the regional prosecution service in Lisbon, based at the court in Seixal.
