A 33-year-old woman was killed with a bladed weapon at a dwelling on calle Joan Fuster Zaragoza in Benidorm, Alicante, in an incident reported on 28 September 2026. According to 20 Minutos the killing took place over the preceding weekend, and police were investigating it as a suspected case of gender-based violence. The Policía Nacional arrested three men, aged 30, 40 and 45: one as the alleged perpetrator, who is reported to have been the victim's partner, and two others over their part in disposing of the remains. Investigators said the body was dismembered and moved in suitcases to scrubland between Benidorm and the neighbouring municipality of Finestrat, where it was set alight; fire crews attended the resulting blaze, which caused only minor damage to surrounding vegetation. The two alleged accessories went to the police station themselves and reported that a man they knew had told them he had killed his partner during an argument at his home and had then threatened them into helping him move the body. One is said to have provided a vehicle and the other to have helped carry it. Officers located the body, established a cordon around the suspect's home and arrested him a short time later. Police said formal identification of the body was still outstanding. The victim had made no previous complaints of domestic violence against her partner.

A 19-year-old man was stabbed in the abdomen in a street in the Son Gotleu neighbourhood of Palma, Mallorca, at about 23:00 on Sunday 13 September 2026. Paramedics found him in cardiorespiratory arrest, restored his pulse and took him in a critical condition to Son Espases University Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery but died. National Police officers identified and arrested a suspect. The motive for the stabbing had not been made public.

A 50-year-old man was killed at around 6:00 on the morning of Saturday 12 September 2026 in Las Cabezas de San Juan, in the province of Seville, after an argument between three people escalated into a fight. According to the Guardia Civil, one of the three got into a vehicle and tried to run over the other two; one managed to avoid the car, while the victim was struck and pinned against a wall on Avenida Federico García Lorca. Emergency services found him in respiratory arrest and could not save him. The driver was arrested on suspicion of intentional homicide, and the Guardia Civil judicial police team in Lebrija has taken over the investigation.

An 88-year-old woman was fatally injured at her home in San Sebastián de los Reyes, in the Community of Madrid, in the middle of the week beginning 7 September 2026. On Thursday 10 September a carer found her in bed with injuries to her arms, and found her 90-year-old husband dead by hanging in the same home. She was taken to hospital, where she died of her injuries on Friday 11 September. On 14 September 2026 the Government Delegation against Gender-based Violence confirmed the killing as a case of gender-based violence. There had been no previous complaints of gender-based violence against the husband, who is presumed to have killed himself after the attack, so no criminal proceedings can follow. She was the 37th woman recorded as killed by gender-based violence in Spain in 2026.

A 47-year-old woman of German nationality was found dead on the Punta del Caimán beach in Isla Cristina, in the province of Huelva, at about nine o'clock on the morning of 28 August 2026. Her body bore multiple wounds from a bladed weapon. The emergency services had received a call at 08.50 reporting a woman lying motionless and unresponsive on the avenida del Atlántico. Paramedics and local police officers attended. The Guardia Civil arrested a 60-year-old man, reported to be her partner, on suspicion of killing her. The Ministry of Equality is gathering information on the case as a suspected instance of gender-based violence, while the Guardia Civil said it was keeping all lines of inquiry open.

A 33-year-old man was found shot dead in a public street in Marbella, in the province of Málaga, at around 2.20am on Monday 24 August 2026. He had two gunshot wounds to the abdomen, and paramedics confirmed his death at the scene. She managed to reach the street on her own, where police found her; a Samur-Protección Civil team treated and stabilised her before she was taken in serious condition to Hospital 12 de Octubre. National Police arrested her partner, a 36-year-old man, hours later. Investigators are treating the case as possible gender-based violence.

A 23-year-old man was stabbed in the left side of the chest in the fairground attractions area of the Real, the site of the Feria de Málaga, at about 4.15am on Monday 17 August 2026. An emergency call reported the stabbing, and he was taken to the Hospital Regional de Málaga in a serious condition. Police arrested a 29-year-old fairground worker, who runs a cocktail stall in the attractions area, in a caravan next to the fairground later that morning. Officers from the Málaga homicide unit detained him on suspicion of attempted homicide, and the weapon is described as a machete. According to the police investigation the attack followed a confrontation over a woman: the victim, who does not work at the fair, had been trying to court her, and she turned out to be the suspect's partner. Inquiries were continuing to establish exactly what happened.

Two women and a 16-year-old boy were shot dead in the street in the El Rocío neighbourhood of Isla Cristina, in the province of Huelva, at around ten o'clock on the night of Sunday 16 August 2026. Two hooded men on a motorcycle fired on them with a rifle, leaving blood and a large number of spent cartridges in the road. The attackers fled and afterwards burned the motorcycle and the weapon in a nearby pine wood to mislead investigators. One of the women was eight months pregnant, and the baby she was expecting also died. An 18-year-old man, the son of one of the women who was killed, was seriously wounded. The Guardia Civil confirmed that the two women who died were the mother and the sister of a man imprisoned since 2024 over an earlier killing. According to early investigation the 16-year-old had no connection to the two women or to the dispute, and was passing by. The case is under judicial secrecy and is being handled by the criminal investigation brigade and by court number 3 in Huelva. No arrests had been reported at the time of the cited report. Local reporting places the shooting as the second and most lethal reprisal in a feud between two families that has claimed at least five lives. It is traced to September 2024, when a man shot his brother-in-law dead and wounded another relative in the El Torrejón neighbourhood of Huelva; he fled, was arrested weeks later in Asturias and has been held in pre-trial detention since. A first reprisal followed in June 2025 at Huerto de la Potala in Isla Cristina, where a shooting killed his stepfather and wounded a woman. The mayor of Isla Cristina described the scene as one that would be hard for witnesses to forget, calling the neighbourhood a quiet and peaceful one, and called residents to a minute's silence against violence.

A 35-year-old trans woman was stabbed to death at a home on calle Castilla in San Pedro de Alcántara, in the municipality of Marbella, on Sunday 9 August 2026. Her body was found the following afternoon after a member of the public alerted police at about 16:15. Paramedics who reached the address could not save her; she had knife wounds. Her partner, a 59-year-old Spanish man who lived with her, was arrested on the Monday and confessed to officers when they arrived at the property. The victim was of Venezuelan origin. Police are handling the case under the domestic-violence regime rather than the gender-violence regime, because she had not begun the administrative procedure for legal recognition of her sex. Investigators reported that arguments between the couple had been frequent: on 1 August 2026 each had reported the other for assault, both were arrested and brought before the court of first instance at Marbella, but neither would confirm the complaint and the matter was shelved.

A married couple were stabbed to death at their home in Tauste, a town of just under 7,000 people in the Cinco Villas district of the province of Zaragoza, on Friday 7 August 2026. Their bodies were found at 9pm the following day, in separate rooms of the terraced house on the calle Ronda Val de Volvi. One victim was a man who had formerly held office as secretary general of a regional farmers' and livestock breeders' union; the other was his wife. On the Monday the Guardia Civil arrested one of the couple's daughters and her current partner, a Colombian national, on suspicion of the double homicide. Both were due to be brought before the court of first instance at Ejea de los Caballeros. Investigators continued working to reconstruct the events, concentrating on the forensic examination of the house.

An 84-year-old man was killed on Friday 7 August 2026 in his flat in the San Pascual neighbourhood, in the Ciudad Lineal district of Madrid. Police and the SUMMA emergency medical service attended the scene, on a street close to the mosque and the M-30 funeral home. A woman was detained, accused of killing him. She is the partner of the dead man's son and had been at the flat; according to the reporting she confessed to having caused his death, saying it was an act of self-defence because he had attacked her with a knife and that she asphyxiated him while they struggled. Her partner was in the flat at the time, taking part in a videoconference in an adjoining room. No charging decision has been reported. The judicial status of the case remains at the alleged stage.

A man died on Thursday 6 August 2026 after being attacked in the street in the Nou Barris district of Barcelona. Officers of the Guàrdia Urbana alerted the Mossos d'Esquadra at about 12:40 that a person had been found injured on a public street. Several police patrols and four ambulances from the Medical Emergency Service attended. The man was taken to hospital in a very serious condition but later died. The Criminal Investigation Division of the Mossos d'Esquadra has taken charge of the case to establish the circumstances of the death. The proceedings are under judicial secrecy, and no arrest has been reported.

A woman was stabbed to death on the afternoon of Wednesday 5 August 2026 in a shopping centre in Murcia. According to the reporting, the suspect — her husband — attacked her with a knife and fled the scene. Her body was found by an employee of one of the shopping centre's businesses, who raised the alarm. The National Police attended the scene to investigate. Two men were stabbed inside a nightclub on the plaza Salamero, in the centre of Zaragoza, at about 5.30am on 2 August 2026. Both survived. Officers were alerted by several calls to the emergency line reporting a stabbing inside the venue. On arrival they found a man lying at the entrance with two knife wounds, to the abdomen and to a thigh, bleeding heavily. They gave first aid until the ambulance service arrived and took him urgently to hospital. While gathering information, officers found a second victim inside: the venue's security guard, who had a knife wound to one leg and was bleeding significantly, and who was also treated by the emergency services. The attackers had left before police arrived. Over the following weeks investigators analysed the available footage and witness statements and reconstructed the events. They concluded that one of the alleged attackers had stabbed the two victims at least four times in total, that a second had inflicted a head injury on one of them, and that a third had caused minor injuries around the eye of the other. On 20 August 2026 the national police arrested two men aged 24. One, who has nine prior police records, is accused of causing grave bodily harm; the other, who has four, was arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide. Both were brought before the duty court the following day, which remanded the alleged author of the attempted homicide in custody and released the second on charges. A third person has been identified and is under investigation for a minor injuries offence.

A 27-year-old woman was found dead with stab wounds on 31 July 2026 in a flat in the Perines district of Santander, in Cantabria. Her 39-year-old partner called the police, confessed to the attack and was arrested the same day on suspicion of her killing. The couple had a child together and no previous complaints had been filed against him, and she was not registered in the Viogén system for monitoring victims of domestic abuse. On Monday 3 August 2026 he appeared before the court, which ordered him remanded in custody pending trial. The Spanish Ministry of Equality confirmed the killing as a case of gender-based violence. It was the thirty-third such killing recorded in Spain in 2026, and the 1,374th since records began in 2003.

A man who worked as a debt collector was stabbed to death on 30 July 2026 in the Barriomar area of the municipality of Murcia, and his body was left under a bridge beneath a dual carriageway. He was found unconscious and covered in blood by a local resident; paramedics who reached the scene were unable to save him. His body bore around thirty stab wounds. Six people were arrested by the national police, all of them covered in blood when detained. According to the investigation so far, the victim had struck one of them — a person with whom he had financial and family dealings — which set off a fight between the two, after which those involved attacked him with knives. A 45-year-old woman was found dead with signs of violence on the morning of 21 July 2026 in a residential development in the Los Arqueros area of Benahavís, in the province of Málaga. A neighbour alerted the 112 emergency service at around 09:50, reporting a loud scream, a large amount of blood, and a man leaving the scene hurriedly in a car. Medical and police units could only confirm her death at the scene. An initial examination found a knife wound to the neck, which investigators believe may be the cause of death, pending an autopsy and forensic report. The Guardia Civil has taken charge of the investigation and mounted an operation to locate a man over his possible connection to the victim and to the killing; The victim, a foreign national, had been registered in the VioGén gender-violence protection system, though her case was no longer active. Authorities are treating the death as a suspected case of gender-based violence. A man who had been in a relationship with the victim between 2018 and 2020 was subsequently arrested and remanded in custody over the killing. On 6 August 2026 the Guardia Civil disclosed that, before confessing to police, he had admitted to being the author of the crime in a personal diary.

An off-duty local police officer in Gijón, Asturias, narrowly avoided a crash on 22 June 2026 after the front brake of his private motorcycle failed as he rode away from where he had parked it, in the La Arena district. He needed his riding skill to avoid an accident. Mechanics who examined the machine found that the front brake's hydraulic circuit had been deliberately tampered with by draining the brake fluid, and ruled out an accidental fault. Investigators from the local judicial police brigade used witness statements and CCTV footage to place a 68-year-old man at the scene and attribute the sabotage to him. He had known the victim previously through the officer's professional work and involvement in various police and administrative actions. The suspect was arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide and brought before the duty court, which released him with charges and barred him from approaching or contacting the victim.

An architect from Barcelona died on 26 December 2025 at his apartment in Baqueira, in the Val d'Aran in Lleida province. He had travelled there with his partner for the Christmas holidays. After being taken ill following a dinner he was treated at the hospital in Vielha, and returned to the apartment with her the day after his admission. He died there on St Stephen's Day. His partner had not called the emergency services about his condition, which drew the suspicion of the Catalan police and led in time to her arrest as the alleged perpetrator of an offence of homicide. She was detained in Madrid on Wednesday 23 September 2026. On Friday 25 September she appeared before the court of first instance at Vielha, which took her statement and, as the prosecution had requested, ordered her committal to preventive prison, avoidable on bail of 80,000 euros. She paid the sum at the court within two hours and was released on provisional liberty. She is 64 and a member of a well-known hotel-business family.

El 22 de noviembre de 2025, en el barrio de Puente de Vallecas (Madrid), un hombre atacó con un cuchillo a tres transeúntes elegidos al azar en la vía pública y, horas después, intentó agredir a uno de los policías que acudieron a detenerlo. La Fiscalía sostiene que actuó por motivación yihadista y que decidió matar al azar a personas que se encontraran en la calle, con el objetivo declarado de atacar a los cristianos. Dos de las agresiones se produjeron sobre las 13:45 en la calle Martínez de la Riva. La primera víctima fue atacada por la espalda de forma súbita y recibió una puñalada en la parte superior de la espalda, cuya gravedad quedó mitigada por la solapa levantada de su chaqueta. Casi al mismo tiempo, el agresor se aproximó por detrás a un segundo transeúnte y le asestó una cuchillada en la zona occipital de la cabeza; fue evacuado en ambulancia al hospital, donde recibió asistencia por las lesiones. Minutos después, en la calle del Párroco Don Emilio Franco, intentó clavar el cuchillo a la altura del corazón a un hombre que caminaba por la vía pública. La víctima bloqueó el golpe con el antebrazo y sufrió una herida superficial en el tórax, además de un trastorno por estrés postraumático como secuela. Esa misma tarde, sobre las 16:45, cuatro agentes de la Policía Nacional acudieron a un domicilio de la calle Peña de la Atalaya alertados por un familiar del sospechoso, que había avisado de su agresividad y temía por su integridad. Los agentes comprobaron que portaba un cuchillo y, tras varios minutos de tensión, el sospechoso salió corriendo con el arma en alto hacia la puerta donde se encontraban. Al abalanzarse sobre el escudo de uno de ellos, otro agente efectuó dos disparos con su arma reglamentaria en una situación de combate cuerpo a cuerpo. El sospechoso resultó herido y fue trasladado al hospital, donde permaneció ingresado hasta su posterior traslado a prisión meses más tarde. El 19 de septiembre de 2026 se conoció que la Fiscalía había solicitado a la Audiencia Nacional procesar al acusado por cuatro delitos de asesinato terrorista en grado de tentativa. Ante la juez y el fiscal, el acusado alegó haber actuado bajo los efectos de las drogas. En el registro de su domicilio se intervinieron un Corán y un manuscrito en árabe sobre la denominada curación islámica.

A 29-year-old woman was stabbed to death in the Usera district of Madrid in the early hours of Monday 30 December 2024. Officers called to a fourth-floor flat at about 02:00 found her with knife wounds to the neck and right armpit, and paramedics could only confirm her death at the scene. Her former partner, a 60-year-old man, had fled the flat and was arrested nearby a short time later. A restraining order protecting her from him was in force at the time, imposed after several complaints of abuse, and she had been placed at the highest police alert level after three such complaints. Neighbours said they had heard arguments between the couple. According to the first enquiries she had asked him to stop harassing and threatening her, and he had not accepted the end of the relationship. The government delegation against gender-based violence confirmed the killing as a case of gender-based violence; she was the 47th woman killed in Spain that year in such circumstances, and she left a young daughter. The trial opened at the Provincial Court of Madrid on 11 September 2026 with the selection of a jury and the parties' opening statements, the accused being due to give evidence the following Monday. It is the third trial he has faced in connection with the same woman, having already been convicted of threats and of assaults against her. Giving evidence on 14 September 2026, the accused admitted stabbing her during an argument after she had gone out for the night without him, and admitted breaching the restraining order imposed on 22 November 2024. The prosecution seeks 26 years' imprisonment for murder and breach of the order. Counsel for the family told the court they would seek compensation from the State for failing to monitor her protection correctly, addressing the claim to the Ministry of Justice and, where appropriate, the Ministry of the Interior, and bringing a civil action against the Government if the administrative claim went unanswered.

A 25-year-old Dutch man was shot dead while working at a cannabis club in Fuengirola, on the Costa del Sol in the province of Málaga, on 7 December 2024. The attacker used a semi-automatic weapon. The suspect, a Belgian national who was 17 at the time, is alleged to have been recruited as a contract killer and to have been sent to kill someone other than the man he shot. He was first arrested in Ghent in June 2025 under a European arrest warrant and transferred to Spain two months later, where he was held in a juvenile detention centre. He was released in May 2026 after the nine-month legal maximum for pre-trial detention expired without a trial beginning or precautionary measures being sought, and then disappeared. In August 2026, now 19, he was arrested again in northern Belgium. The East Flanders prosecutor's office reported the arrest.

A 32-year-old man from Valladolid died in the early hours of Saturday 24 February 2024 in Burgos, where he was attending a bachelor party. He was struck by a single, very hard punch that killed him almost instantly. Police at first found no sign of an assault, but forensic work and witness statements later established that he had been hit in an unexpected attack. A 23-year-old man from Burgos was arrested early the following day and remanded in custody without bail. Investigators had considered whether the victim was attacked because he was from Valladolid, but the jury at the trial did not find that motive proven. In February 2026 the Burgos provincial court convicted the attacker of reckless homicide (homicidio imprudente) rather than murder, and sentenced him to four years in prison and to pay 250,000 euros in compensation. The prosecution and the family appealed, seeking a retrial. In September 2026 the High Court of Justice of Castilla y León upheld the conviction and sentence, while criticising the trial judge's conduct of the proceedings. The family said it would not take the case to the Supreme Court.

A 59-year-old man from Coín, in the province of Málaga, was killed at a home in the town at some point around 2020; his disappearance was reported that year and the date of his death has not been established. A suspect has confessed to killing him there, dismembering the body and moving the remains to several locations in the nearby municipality of Alhaurín de la Torre. The investigation began in June 2025, when municipal workers in Alhaurín de la Torre found a human skull wrapped in a bag inside a service box on the Pinos de Alhaurín estate. Guardia Civil homicide and forensic officers took the case, and DNA testing matched the remains to the man missing since 2020. Investigators then focused on his social and personal circle and, through documentary and database analysis and judicially authorised technical measures, on an acquaintance of his. Ground-penetrating radar, drones and dogs trained to detect biological remains were deployed to search for the rest of the body. The suspect was arrested on Tuesday 28 July 2026 and confessed. He led investigators to the sites where further skeletal remains were recovered; those remains are awaiting genetic analysis for definitive confirmation. No charge has been reported.

A woman disappeared from her home village of Hornachos, in the province of Badajoz, on the evening of 9 May 2017. She had stepped out briefly to see off a family whose daughter she looked after, leaving her phone and keys behind and telling her son she would be back to make dinner. She never returned, and for almost nine years the case remained unsolved, although her family had long suspected two neighbours. In March 2026 the Central Operative Unit of the Guardia Civil arrested two brothers, her neighbours, and searched their house. Skeletal remains found under a cemented and tiled inspection chamber in the patio were identified by biological analysis as hers. Days after the arrest the younger brother confessed to the killing and exculpated his brother. Both are held in pre-trial detention under an investigating court in Villafranca de los Barros on suspicion of murder and unlawful detention. On 14 September 2026 the two men were brought from prison to their house in Hornachos for a judicial reconstruction of the crime, where they were met by angry neighbours. Only the elder brother took part in the reconstruction; the younger, who had confessed, did not cooperate.
